Supporting Bosnian Youth Engagement in Democratic Processes

Advocacy workshop organized by Digital Spark grantees from Bosnia and Herzegovina in partnership with the Metamorphosis Foundation focused on strengthening democratic participation through youth engagement and voter mobilization ahead of the General Elections scheduled for October 2026.

The workshop brought together a coalition of eight partner organizations led by the FBiH Youth Council. Participants jointly developed an advocacy initiative aimed at encouraging first-time voters to actively participate in the electoral process and exercise their democratic rights.

The advocacy initiative recognizes that young people require accessible, reliable, and non-partisan information to better understand the importance of voting, how elections work, and the role civic participation plays in shaping democratic societies. Through a coordinated awareness campaign, coalition partners will work to increase youth voter engagement and empower young citizens to make informed and independent electoral choices.

The campaign will primarily target young people aged 18 to 30 across Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a particular focus on first-time voters and youth with limited access to civic education. In addition, the initiative will engage youth organizations, youth councils, student groups, informal youth networks, media representatives, educators, youth workers, and digital content creators as key allies in promoting youth democratic participation at the elections.

As part of the advocacy effort, the coalition will produce and disseminate a series of 5 (five) short animated videos through social media platforms. The video campaign will focus on essential information for first-time voters, how to prepare for and participate confidently in elections, why voting matters for young people by sending motivational message encouraging young people to use their right to vote

The videos will be supported by social media posts, stories, and interactive content distributed through the communication channels of all participating organizations and partner networks.

Coalition members will encourage partner organizations and media outlets to amplify the campaign by sharing the short animations through their own channels. All campaign content will remain strictly non-partisan and will neither promote nor criticize any political option or candidate.

The visits were conducted as part of the Regional Support Mechanism EECA project, implemented by Metamorphosis Foundation and TechSoup, in partnership with CIVICUS and under the Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI) that covers the Global South.
